Removing Miata differential bushing. Jun 10, Jake, if the bushing in a Spec Miata & are not rotten or super soft why are you taking the bushings out? I have a & they are the only bushings I didn't change. I also have a back-up rear end completly assembled into the aluminum housing & I didn't change those bushings either. I ended up using a sturdy mm c-clamp and a large vise that probably opened mm.
This also took some creativity. All of the bushings are either 38 or 40mm in diameter, so you need to purchase a pipe coupling of approximately the same size to press the old bushings into.

The differential is mounted in the car with some surprisingly flexible rubber bushings. Replacing these with stiffer SuperPro polyurethane bushings will cut down on differential movement, which actually makes your shifting more precise due to the way the Miata's drivetrain is mounted.
